HMRC have confirmed that from 4 September 2017 they will no longer send agents paper copies of SA302s for clients.

Many mortgage or loan lenders will often request a copy of an SA302 from an individual applicant. This is considered to be best evidence of proof of earnings.

In the past, the only way of obtaining the SA302 was to contact HMRC and request it, which was a time consuming process.

More recently, HMRC have encouraged applicants to obtain a copy of the ‘Tax overview’ and ‘Full calculation’ from the online services and provide this instead and from 4 September 2017 they will cease sending paper SA302s to agents.

There are a number of lenders which will accept the tax overview and printed calculation in place of a paper SA302 and HMRC are working on educating other lenders to increase acceptance.
