HMRC have announced that taxpayers with Personal Tax Accounts can now make online claims for tax refunds.
- Claims can be made at any time.
- Overpayments will then be paid directly to the taxpayer's bank account within 3 - 5 days, rather than having to wait for a cheque in the post.
A Personal Tax Account can be set up online here. If they don't already have one taxpayers will need to set up a Government Gateway account as part of this process.
Taxpayers will also have to notify HMRC of their bank account details to claim a repayment.
