HM Treasury is inviting representations from stakeholders ahead of the 2024 Autumn Budget, which will be held on 30 October 2024. Time is getting short for making representations: the portal closes on 10 September 2024.
Comments or suggestions for the Autumn Budget and/or Spending Review can be made by interest groups, individuals and representative bodies. Submissions should aim to comment on existing government policy and suggest new policy ideas to be considered for the upcoming fiscal event.
Representations should explain the policy rationale, costs, benefits and deliverability of proposals. Comments should be evidence-based, providing clear arguments on how they contribute to the aims of the Budget and/or Spending Review.
The Treasury suggests the following points for consideration:
- Likely effectiveness and value for money.
- Revenue implications for the Exchequer.
- How it supports growth.
- Wider macroeconomic implications (for example, for economic stability and supporting employment).
- Sectoral impacts.
- Distributional impacts.
- Locational impacts.
- Administrative and compliance costs and issues.
- Legislative and operational requirements.
- Environmental impact.
Representations can be made via an online portal, which will close at 23:59 on 10 September 2024.
